In Holly's words "The second illustration in the Country Kin Collection. This whole collection was inspired by my Uncles Artworks. Animals were a huge focus in many of his pieces and having a young son at home, I wanted to create something for my sons room that tied together his art and my contemporary style. I’m not exactly sure why snakes resonated with me next, they just did. They’re such a beautiful creature and perhaps not something you’d usually see on a young Childs wall. I think that’s what I love about them too. Breaking the norm of children’s bedrooms, especially here. Snakes live among us, we watch for them on our walks. Learn about them from young and admire them. Don’t get me wrong, I love a teddy bear but this feels natural to who we are and I love the idea that someone else might be able to use this artwork to express the same sentiment.
